Traditional crafts tend to disappear with time, replaced by modern machines. But luckily, some traditions are kept alive not only by nostalgic people who want to celebrate the old days, but also by young people who are intrigued by the ancient arts.
Filmed by Il Giunco TV, the video shows two young blacksmiths from Caldana and Ripescia, two small towns in the Maremma Tuscany. They decided to study at the “Scuola di Mascalcia” (blacksmiths school) in Grosseto.
In the video you can see them at work in front of some townsfolk during a local festival in Caldana. See (and listen to) how they slowly and patiently create a horseshoe !
