Ricardo Gonzalez won the Senior Italian Open 2022 beating defending champion James Kingston in Maremma Tuscany’s Argentario Golf Club (PGA National Italy).

The Argentinian player was the only player to finish the tournament under par: he won with 211 strokes played on the demanding course of the Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort (par 71). He overtook the South African James Kingston in the final stages, second with 214, who was unable to defend the title conquered in 2021.
Among the protagonists of the eleventh edition of the event Emanuele Canonica, always in the positions avant-garde and sixth with 217.

Gonzalez was emotional about his victory and about having son Santi with him for his first win in Europe since 2009, when he was victorious at the SAS Scandinavian Masters on the European Tour

“I hope that my victory on the circuit is the first of a long series. I dedicate the success to my family and especially to my son, who was my caddy. I congratulate Italy for the 2023 Ryder Cup. It is one of the best countries to assign it to for its splendid facilities, for the climate and for the champions it has been able to express”.
